Fr George's Letter for November

Does Anybody Read This?*

At our last Church Council meeting this question was asked. Sub-deacon James spends his own time and resources to produce this newsletter every month and often there are a lot left. Hopefully our monthly leaflet will be more edifying than the election leaflets that will drop through our letter boxes over the next few weeks. This coming Sunday our leaflet will be given out when folk come for the antidoron.

If you read this please try and remember those who need our Church's help, especially the Foodbank in Edlington who do a great job in feeding those who, for whatever reason, would otherwise go hungry. Please bring any gifts of food, especially seasonable items like mince pies, Christmas puddings, selection boxes, etc. Do not judge but have compassion as the Lord himself taught us, not just by His words but by His actions. We will be donating money to other organisations as part of our gifts for the Christ Child. The last day for bringing items for the Foodbank before Christmas will be Sunday 8th December. Thank you.

Politicians and their games come and go but unfortunately the poor we will always have with us and, as the Lord Himself told us, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me."

                            Much Love,

Fr. George.

(Note from Subdeacon James: *The title and first line of Fr George's letter this month refers specifically to the printed version of the newsletter. I had been putting them on the table at the back of the Chancel but as this is now our little shop I wonder if people thought they were no longer free. I can assure you they are still very much free so please take one. If ever you find there are none left please let me know and I can print more. Alternatively, if you log on to the website [], you can sign up for getting the newsletter by email each month.)
